Dual-Modem Capable
MAC Units can accommodate up to two modems (in addition to the permanently-installed IP capability). Two options are available when you order a MAC2 unit:
1- With an internal dial-up modem (RJ-11 jack), giving you the option to connect a second modem (external Hayes-compatible) to a MAC serial port.
2- Without modem, giving you the option to connect one or two external Hayes-compatible modems to MAC serial ports.

Having a second modem ensures redundancy, especially if your site does not have an Ethernet connection for IP. You can have the primary modem over landline, while the back-up is over GSM for example.
Note that the MAC bilingual voice response system and DTMF controls are only accessible through the MAC's internal modem.
