| DIGITAL SATELLITE RECEIVER FAULT DETECTOR |
The DSDR-01 dual Digital Satellite Fault Detector monitors the signal quality at the output of two Scientific Atlanta Power VU digital receivers. The unit provides an indication of poor signal, or no signal at all, by monitoring the Bit Error Rate (BER) of the digital receiver(s). When the BER exceeds a preset value, a visual indication is displayed on the front panel LCD readout. A TTL output and relay closure are also triggered. These indications can be used to automatically switch to a back-up receiver or to supply an alarm signal to a remote monitoring & control system such as the Davicom MAC.
The DSDR-01 protects against "incidental" faults by not taking action until the 4th consecutive fault has occurred. The receiver status will return to normal after 4 consecutives readings of a normal BER level. The unit may also be reset remotely.
