MAC INPUT/OUTPUT KIT - Krone frames (available through Radica in the UK)

The MAC uses industry-standard Champ 50-pin connectors for all its I/O needs. The MAC I/O Kit (Krone frames) is an interesting alternative to making-up your own wiring harnesses. The kit represents a neat and convenient way to connect to the back of your MAC units using high quality IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) technology, thus saving you the trouble of making up your own 25-pair cables.

Note that older MiniMAC models (black front panel) do not require any MAC I/O Kit.

Cables have BT 226 connectors at the MAC end, and are brought out to Krone 237A modules housed within 3U recessed 15-way 19-inch frames. Cables come as standard in 2 or 10m lengths. Other lengths can be purchased for a nominal charge.

MAC8, MAC208 and MiniMAC2 models require 5 Krone blocks with 2 cables, MAC16 and MAC216 models require 10 blocks with 4 cables and MAC24 models require 15 blocks with 6 cables. For MAC32 models, it is necessary to use 2 x 10 block frames, or 1 x 5 block frame and 1 x 15 block frame, with 8 cables.

In North-America, the MAC Input/Output Kit with Weidmuller terminals is normally used.
